DE&I initiatives- Where to start?

I am struggling with developing DE&I initiatives at a new job.

How should recruiters and hiring managers build more diverse talent pools for positions and areas that are traditionally underrepresented? Should employers think about the job boards they use? Diversity job boards for employers?

Where to start?

Step 1- Make sure to use inclusive language in your job postings. There is lots of research on this, but in general use gender-neutral and inclusive language.

Step 2- Seek out diversity-oriented job boards
Join the National Diversity Council. Talk to your local business Chamber of Commerce. Seek out groups of specialized workers, ie Black Engingeers of America Association.

Step 3: Track your diversity metrics. Seriously. How can you have diverse hiring initiatives if you’re not tracking their success? If you are serious about this, set goals and track KPIs.
